Identify Limiting Step

7 self-motivators number 2 of 7
This is the second post of seven talking about self-motivators. This is a crucial topic because we all should be dusting off our dreams and learning how to make an impact while we are here on earth. Now if we are really dreaming, seriously dreaming, you know what I'm talking about...not the dreaming held back by our insecurities and fears but the real dreaming as if we couldn't fail. If we are really dreaming then we would realize that our dream is going to need some help most likely to get accomplished. It will most likely need to benefit others and it will also take others help along the way to attain. This will eventually put us in a category of people that I learned years ago was called "motivators". We will have to be able to motivate someone to help make things happen. It does us no good to watch Rocky all day and study clips of others giving rah rah speeches that get us all fired up. That is good but not good enough these days. These days we want someone leading from the front. We want someone that has walked that path and won who can show us how to do the same. We are ready for a change and just need someone real who is not perfect but that they are striving to lead by example. That person is you. That person is you getting out of the bed and becoming self-motivated first. Through all the tough times and good times. The tougher the better because we will know you know where we've been or happen to be at this time and fought through to victory. Let's cover some keys to being self-motivated.

#2 - Identify Your Limiting Step to Success. What's your limiting step? What's the one skill area that's holding you back? What's the skill? What's the quality? What's the action? Ask other people. Find out what you need to become good at. Sometimes it may be only one skill. If you became really, really good on the telephone, you could maybe double your prospecting effectiveness and double your sales. If you became very, very good at getting the order at the end from qualified prospects, you could double your sales. If you became way more humble and thus teachable so you were able to get along with leaders better and grow faster?  If you were able to grind our good focused long hours to get your numbers higher?  If you became very, very good at managing your time to really, really manage your time well, you may be able to double your presentations and double your income. If you were more encouraging perhaps people would gravitate to you and follow your lead better doubling your income. Find out what's holding you back. What is the critical limiting step that's determining your success today?

Whatever that one step is, or if you're like me and can list way more than one step don't beat yourself up.  Realize again that no one is perfect and that we are all works in progress.  Life will be filled with ups and downs.  Good times and not so good times.  Those who can recognize the beautiful ride for what it is can hang on and enjoy each time we are stretched as only making us stronger....as only helping you get one step closer to success.  Each tough time allows you to be able to relate and help another in this beautiful world of ours that is filled with people that need your love and care.
